To begin with Sonex, you can get knowledge about WordPress from installing WordPress to FAQs to WordPress. Below are some useful channel for WordPress users:

Server Requirements for Sonex

To use Sonex, your server must be running WordPress 4.0 or higher, PHP5 or higher, and mysql 5 or higher.

INSTALLATION

To install Sonex you must have a working version of WordPress already installed on your hosting account or Server. Make sure your installed Wordpress version is 4.0 or higher. You also need to have PHP 5.2.4 or higher versions (recommended is php 5.3+) and MySQL 5.0 to function correctly. If you need help installing WordPress, follow the instructions in WordPress Codex

1. Downloading

Purchase Sonex template then you can download our template package from themeforest downloads section

Extract package that include all files and folders of theme.

2. Install via WordPress

Following some steps below, you can completely install Sonex in few minutes.

Step 1: After getting the installation zip file of Sonex, you should navigate to Appearance >>> Theme.

Step 2: Click add new and then wait while the theme uploaded and installed.

Step 3: Click to activate it.

Step 4: Done !

3. Common Install Errors

Fonts Missing From Icon ManagerMake sure to upload the Font Sets located at : Demo Content > Icons > icomoon.zip via Ultimate > Icon Manager do this step only after installing and enabling the Visual Composer and Ultimate Addons Plugins.

3.1. Are You Sure You Want To Do This?

If you get the “Are You Sure You Want To Do This” message when installing Sonex via WordPress, it means you have an upload file size limit. Install the theme via FTP if this happens, or call your hosting company and ask them to increase the limit.

3.2. Upload size limit

If you get this message when you install Sonex on localhost, here is a solution for you:

  • Through php.ini file

    • Step 1 - Find the php.ini file on your host

    Step 2 - Find the following lines and adjust the value. We suggest to change the upload file limit to 10M

  • Through function.php

    • You may add the below mentioned code in the functions.php file of your theme

    @ini_set( 'upload_max_size' , '64M' );
    @ini_set( 'post_max_size', '64M');
    @ini_set( 'max_execution_time', '300' );
  • Through .htaccess method

    • You may try modifying the existing .htaccess file in the root directory or creating a new one.

    Add the following code in the existing or new htacess file:

    php_value upload_max_filesize 64M
    php_value post_max_size 64M
    php_value max_execution_time 300
    php_value max_input_time 300

INSTALL PLUGINS

1. Install all plugins automatically

Step 1: Click to Plugins >>> Installed Plugins.

Step 2: There is the notification to install necessary plugins on the top. Click to "install" all plugins mentioned in plugins folder.

Step 3: Activate these installed plugins.

Step 4: Done. All plugins are ready to build your own website.

2. Install all plugins manually

To enable the major functionality of sonex you need to have 3rd party plugins enabled and working Search the name of the plugin, install and activate it as above.

INSTALL DATA DEMO

One click demo import

one click demo import option will import all the content advertised in DEMO to your installation except for the dummy blog posts and woocommerce products. Initiaing a demo import is very simple.

Step 1- Install theme and and activate it, install all required plugins and activate.

Step 2- Click to "Appearance" in left sidebar

Step 3- Click to "Import Demo Data"

Step 4: Select the Main Demo and Hit Import Button, also make sure max_execution_time is set to maximum so that the proces shouldnt halt. Usually it taked around 4-5 Minutes on good internet Connection, if DEMO installation halts in the middle dont worry just the HIT the Import button again and again after the interval of 5-10 minutes untill you see the message " All Done Have Fun " in case you need help with installation send us an email at finsstudio@gmail.com and will install it for you for free.

Replace DEMO Images

DEMO images are for Demonstartion purposes only, you should replace them with your own Images

Full Data Import Method

Besides single demo you can import all demo of the theme just like to get the exact DEMO like outlook of your website, make sure max_execution_time is set to maximum so that it shouldnt halt during the data transfers.

Step 1 - Go to Tools >>> Import on your Dashbroad

Step 2 - Click to WordPress. Install plugin WordPress Importer.

Step 3 - Choose main.xml file in Demo Content > Full Demo XML upload and import. Done!

SETTING MENU

The following steps will guide you how to set up

In each menu, you can add as many items you need: links, pages, custom links, shop categories, portfolio categories

Main menu

  • Navigate to Appearance >>> Menus and from there select the menu desired to be shown as main menu.

  • Enter a menu name in the “Menu Name” box and click the Create Menu button.

  • You can add as many items you need by dragging and dropping to set sub menu or position of them.
  • Besides menu sonex mega menu feature enables you to add stunning icons / backgrounds and widgets to your menu itmes too.

    • Note: Choose theme locations for the menu before you save. The mobile menu is the responsive menu that will be displayed on mobile screens

    That tab to allow you setting menu location you want.

    Adding Special Font Icons to your Website / Font Icon Manager

    you can add special icons to your site so you can use them in visual composer/ icon manager. to enable the icomoon fonts and to add other fonts to your website, you will have to upload the fonts, sonex folder contains the folder Demo Content navigate to that than go to Icons > upload icomoon.zip to your site by going to Ultimate > Icon Manager > Upload from the admin panel of your website. Make sure all required plugins are installed and activated .

SETTING HOMEPAGE

With Visual Composer and Ultimate Addons you can quickly develop great pages in less time, once the pages are created you can easily assign that any specific page as the Homepage of your website, in order to assign any page as the default homepage simply go to settings > Reading and from there select any static page or latest posts.

Blog Pages

1. Create blog single post

Step 1- Navigation to Post in your WordPress admin. Click on Add New to make a new post.

Step 2 - Create a new post with various options

  • - Create a title and insert your post content in the editing field. You can use any of our shortcodes inside post.

    • Add your post format. It includes:

    • Standard post
    • video
    • audio
    • gallery
    • link
    • quote

      • If you choose format "video, audio, link, quote, gallery", please customize their detailed options in "Post format".

      In order that all posts display well on Sonex's various layouts, the presequite dimension of images has to be larger than 900px x 560px.

      Blog Types: Sonex includes 2 major blog design variants, Default and Advanced, enabling you to select desired style easily.

      - Customize Post format if you choose one of these formats "video, audio, link, quote, gallery".

      For format "video", you have some options:

      • Video format url: you can only add link from Vimeo and Youtube
      • Video source: select video source: video link, upload local file, video embed code.

      For format "audio", you have some options:

      • Audio source: select audio source: soundcloud link or upload local file.
      • Link: insert soundcloud link, or link audio from other websites (option for format "Link" only, please fill in full http:// address).

      For format "quote", you have some options:

      • Quote author: fill the author name of the quote.
      • Author quote url: add author link.
      • Quote content: fill the quote.

      For format "gallery", you have some options:

      • Gallery format: add images, audio, video... from gallery.
      • Gallery auto play: True or False. If you choose True, your gallery will play in auto. Default is False.
      • Gallery duration time: fill duration time for your gallery. Default is 5000.
      • Gallery speed: custom the speed. Default is 300.
      • Gallery pagination: True or False. If you choose True, your gallery will be paginated. Default is False.
      • Gallery navigation: True or False. If you choose True, your post will have gallery navigation. Default is True.
      • Gallery mousewheel using: True or False. If you choose True, the gallery can be used by mousewheel. Default is True.

      Step 3- Click to Settings >>> Readings to choose number of post can be shown in each blog page.

      2. Create a new blog page

      There are 2 major blog design variations you can select either one for each page, Blog Default and Blog Advanced, you can experiement by trying each one out or by previewing the one in DEMO at www.finsstudio.com/sonex

      Step 2: Select the Best Template:

PORTFOLIO

Sonex is Loaded with Stunning Essential Grid Commercial Plugin enabling you to have modern portfolio options in your website, simply select number of portfolio styles includung filter, masonry and many other portfolio styles. More than 30 Portfolio styles and umlimited portfolio skin style possibilities.

1. Create new single portfolio

Step 1- Navigation to Ess. Grid >>> Ess. Grid >>> Create New Ess. Grid in Dashboard.

Selct the Best Desired Portfolio style or import the one included n Demo content folder.

Home Pages

There are more than 8 Unique Concept styles for Sonex as per your requirement select the best desired concept from the available DEMOS once selected you can easily assign that specific concept as the main homepage of the website, simply navigate to Customize > Home Pages > Select Static Frontpage > "then select your desired concept."

SHORTCODES

Visual Composer is a very modern and useful feature of Sonex, it allows users to make a new page in a short time, simplify shortcode problems. If you like the traditional way to create your own page, you completely click to Classic Mode.
